Don’t Mess With Me – Video by Alex Johnson

Don’t Mess With Me – Back to my minimalist style!

Don’t Mess With Me: All Music by Alex Johnson
Alex Johnson – Bass / Lead & Rhythm parts,
Drum Track and Synthesizer
Video by Alex Johnson

I wanted this song to get back to my earlier more minimalistic style.
Everything should be clear and clean, without clutter.

The name came to me while listening back to the song while I was writing the second bass parts, and once I thought of it I stuck with it because I thought it was fitting for the mood of the tune.

DO IT AGAIN – Video by RevRon P.

DO IT AGAIN

DO IT AGAIN: Don’t be Afraid to – Do It Again!

“Do It Again” started with a basic beat that I put some bass parts to, and after jamming on it a few times laid down the basis of the song. RevRon P. took a listen to it and went to town – he beefed up the drums and made a great drum track that really fits the song. Then he worked his “guitar wizardry” and came up with some killer guitar tracks that really made the song drive. He gave it some real Zing. I topped things off with some violin tracks – to add a little “spice” to the song.

“Do It Again” will make you want to “Play it Again”!

LATE ONE NIGHT – Video by Alex Johnson

LATE ONE NIGHT: Song by Alex Johnson –
Bass Guitar, Fuzz Bass, Violin, Drum/Percussion Tracks

My latest video “Late One Night” is using the music from a bass jam I did some time ago, in the early morning hours.

I liked the ethereal sound I got with the violin in this song, contrasted with the low, gut grabbing bass parts. I was just going with the flow as I added each part on top of the other, and it felt like I captured a certain “mood” that had a good feel to it.

Take a look and pass it on!

VISION AT THE PYRAMIDS – Video by Alex Johnson

VISION AT THE PYRAMIDS

VISION AT THE PYRAMIDS: Song by Alex Johnson
From the album Orpheus.
Alex Johnson – Bass / Fuzz Bass / ARP 2600 Synthesizer

This is actually a shorter version of the full length song. The song was meant to “stretch out” and float along like a dream. It was inspired by a kind of hypnotic state reaching energies not ordinarily accessed in everyday life.

Video footage features a backdrop of Nasa photos of the surface of Mars, as well as a spectacular Pyramid photo by James K Papp. Near the end is a brief, but clear shot of the surface of Mars that is used as part of the backdrop for much of the video. I thought the Mars images added something to the otherworldly feel of the music and mystical energy of the Pyramids.

FREE ALL DAY – Video by Alex Johnson

FREE ALL DAY: Song by Alex Johnson
Alex Johnson – Bass Guitar, Fuzz Bass, Violin, Synthesizers

This song is a bit more up-tempo and a different style than my earlier music on this website, mainly because of the drum track that works in with it.

There is a Violin Solo in the middle of this song (1:20), with a nice bass part along with it. That middle section is what I liked the best about this song… so give it a listen!

GUNSLINGER – Video by Alex Johnson

GUNSLINGER: Song by Alex Johnson
Alex Johnson – Bass Guitar, Fuzz Bass, Violin

Gunslinger is a short ambient piece with a unique moodiness that is somewhat bittersweet. The main melodic expression in the first part of the song is a bass melody doubled with violin. Later the mood shifts to a warm but deep feeling.

Fallout – A short, moody song, with a nice violin solo in the middle.

SUNBEAM – Video by Alex Johnson

SUNBEAM: Song by Alex Johnson
Alex Johnson – Bass Guitar, Fuzz Bass, Violin

“Sunbeam” features bass rhythms accompanied by “fuzz bass” lines. Fuzz Bass is a bass guitar technique that creates a distinctive and unique floating sound. In “Sunbeam”, Violin solos and harmonies top off this new sound.

Featuring vintage driving footage from Seattle, WA.

Alex Johnson – Tape Decks, Stephen Hawking’s Voice Saying “Black Hole”

All of the sounds you hear are created with only Stephen Hawking’s “voice” run at different speeds, reversed etc. I probably recorded this, as an experiment, back in the early 1980’s. First photos of a black hole released today, April 10th, 2019.

“Black Hole” Soundtrack is Stephen Hawking saying “Black Hole”.
